Small Businesses Are Stepping Up to Help Aspiring Barbers in Orlando
At a time when economic tensions between the U.S. and Canada are making headlines, a group of small businesses is proving that generosity knows no borders. Bookedin, a Canadian appointment scheduling software, has teamed up with YouTube Barber Academy, Orlando Barber Academy, and StyleCraft to help aspiring barbers in Florida get a head start in their careers.
Free Tuition, Free Tools, and a Mission to Give Back
On March 24th and 25th, one lucky barber student in Orlando got their tuition fully covered, while the entire class received top-tier barbering tools and free access to Bookedin’s software. But that’s not all. The students were not just receiving—they were also giving back. Today they headed to a local shelter to offer free haircuts, lunch coupons, and hygiene kits to people in need.
For Eddie, founder of YouTube Barber Academy, this project is deeply personal. “Over the years, I saw so many talented students forced to drop out due to financial struggles. Now, thanks to our generous sponsors, we’re changing that reality. To finally be able to help these students before it’s too late—it means everything.”
A Growing Movement Led by Small Businesses
Eddie actually did something similar three years ago, and ever since, he’s been looking for a way to bring it back—this time, with more support.
Thanks to the combined efforts of Bookedin, Orlando Barber Academy, and StyleCraft, this is turning into something much bigger. In fact, the team has already picked another barber for a future tuition giveaway, though decided to keep it a secret for now. The plan is to return to Orlando at the end of May to do it all over again.
Businesses That Care About More Than Just Profits
Mike Iwasiow, founder of Bookedin, believes small businesses can make a real impact when they come together. “During times of economic crisis, small businesses have a responsibility to support one another and their communities. If we join together, we can achieve so much and make a tangible difference in people’s lives.”
Gus, the founder of Orlando Barber Academy, has been involved in giving back for years. “What started as a small way to help our community has turned into something so much bigger. It’s not just about teaching barbering—it’s about making a difference.”
StyleCraft is stepping in to make sure these students have access to the best equipment so they can master their craft and build long-lasting careers.
More Than Just a Haircut
At its core, this movement is about more than barbering—it’s about giving people opportunities they might not have otherwise. Whether it’s a student finally being able to afford their education or someone at a shelter getting a fresh cut and a moment of dignity, these businesses are proving that a little generosity can go a long way.
